Young Chamber @ New Mills School

New Mills are just one of 51 schools across the country with Business and Enterprise speacialist status to become a Young Chamber. Ours is a unique partnership with Derbyshire and Nottingham Chamber of Commerce.

New Mills Young Chamber gives the students the opportunity to understand and get involved with the world of Business and Enterprise.

Mission StatementLocal Business advice through Young Chamber

The Young Chamber brings a coherent structure to channel, develop, co-ordinate and celebrate the Enterprise activity and to best prepare young people to take the opportunities available in their future.

The full Committee meets once a fortnight on a thursday at lunch time with lunch provided. Currently there are 6 companies Peak Plants, The Kenya Committee, Fair Trade, Fudge Company, Evolution and a Web Site group, although it is envisaged this will grow in number with the start of the new academic year.Any student can become involved either by joining an existing Comapny , forming a new one with friends or by giving a presentation to Young Chamber.

The Young Chamber actively undertakes at least three major projects/ events each term, either initiated by being contacted  with an initiative by a member of our Business Network Group, or the Chamber of Commerce or an Organisation. New ideas and challenges are always welcome.

This term Young Chamber has been working with Simon to set up this link with the School and will also complete some Market Research for Martyn Cartledge a local phtographer and member of the Breakfast Club. Also Companies will be trading at the One world Festival in New Mills as well as developing our own 'retail' outlet.

This year Young Chamber sponsored FairCase, a Young Enterprise Company who were awarded a prize from the best presentation at the Stockport Area Board Final as well as coming in the top ten of North West Companies. Their advisor Tony Salt of Swizzels Matlow was presented with a cup as Advisor of the Year.
