Marrying dresses to dreams

Georgia HowarthAs the 2010 prom season comes to an end, and year ten students are soon to become year elevens, the thing on every girls' mind , including ours is prom dresses! It's always a girl's preoccupation to look good and have their perfect dress - be it for their prom night or their wedding day. Writing articles about local business for our work experience, the business which appealed most to us was 'Cavendish', the bridal House in Hayfield.

We chose Cavendish Bridal House as we're already starting to think about our prom next year, and we wanted to make sure the dresses we choose are right for us and our shapes. So to find out more about matching dresses to special days and making sure those dresses or outfits would be right for the special lady we phoned Georgia Howarth to arrange an interview then set off with questions and notebooks in hand. The experience certainly helped us understand more of what's involved in the selection process and how someone with experience, passion and a sixth sense for these things can help make the right choices.

Golf club has charity day down to a tee!

Ray and NormanWe attended a charity day at New Mills golf club, for a man called Allen (Mick) Jones who sadly died from salmonella on a holiday in Portugal 3 and a half years ago. Immortalising the moment

Having a photographer on a special day or to hold memories of your chilldren is very important, especially when they grow up so fast. Having someone provide you with captured moments that you can keep for ever is is something we all would consider, but firstly we need to know who to chose.

Tim HenselAs part of our work experience we interviewed a local photographer Tim Hensel. He moved to New Mills with the intention to make photography his full time occupation. Since the age of 15 his passion has been photography and he would turn his bathroom into a dark room for days, to print his pictures and his passion continued, finding himself now as a very successful photographer. Before becoming a photographer though, he continued with his A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and then successfully completed a degree in Biology. He also has an A level in photography which he did in the evenings after leaving university. His artistic background inspired him more and helped him along the way - no wonder with his father being a sculpter and his mother being a painter.
