The New Mills School to Business Golf Challenge

The New Mills School to Business challenge proved to be an excellent way of the New Mills School involving local businesses through the New Mills Business Network it runs. Although it was the first initiative of its kind organised through the Business Network, there were 8 school students playing with 8 local business people. David Hudsmith, prominent attendee of the Networking Group and Marketing Director of Stand Security Solutions, managed to leverage his links with with Jaguar to secure the involvement of Stratstone Stockport. Terry Strong of TaxAssist Accountants also generously contributed towards the initiative by providing two £30 Argos vouchers for the winning team.

Fair Trade @ New Mills School 

The Fair Trade Team was set up four years ago to raise awareness of Fair Trade issues. We started with a small group of enthusiastic year 7 students and set up a tuck shop selling Fair Trade goods to the students at break. Since then, the team has expanded to include students from successive years, whilst the older members are still available for advice and support.

The Make Your Mark with a tenner activity proved to be a huge success producing an inspirational number of budding entrepeneurs!

 

A total of 7 judges including 2 New Mills Business Network members, David Hudsmith and Chris Parrack, were involved in the final judging of the best three teams from each school.
